This weeks highlight has to be the an amazing performance by Britain’s gymnasts. The team put in it’s best performance test at a European Championships, which included double silver for Becky Downie.

Gymnastics: Britain’s best ever performance at European Championships

Britain’s gymnasts capped off the 2015 European Championships with three silver medals on the final day to complete a record-breaking haul at a major championship.

Silver for Becky Downie on beam, Sam Oldham on high bar and Claudia Fragapane on floor – added to Downie’s silver in the bars, all-around bronze for her sister Ellie and Dan Purvis, pommel gold for Louis Smith and floor gold for Kristian Thomas – brought the medal tally to eight.

The charge on the final day was led by Becky Downie who scored 14.300 points on the beam to finish second – Britain’s best ever result in the event at a major championships. Full story via TeamGB

BMX: Charlotte Green makes Semi-Finals at Manchester World Cup

Charlotte Green reached the women’s semi-finals but unclipped from her pedal in the opening straight.

The 20-year-old, who had an injury-burdened 2014, fought back but could not make up the ground to the top four who qualified for the final. The event was won by Caroline Buchanan of Australia. Full story via British Cycling

Equestrian: Charlotte Dujardin wins gold at the FEI World Cup in Las Vegas

British world dressage champion Charlotte Dujardin was full of praise for her horse Valegro after winning the Grand Prix at the FEI World Cup in Las Vegas.

The 29-year-old, who won the world title in Lyon last year, recorded a score of 85.414 per cent to finish top of the pile.

Football: Chelsea beat champions Liverpool

Eniola Aluko’s second-half goal was enough for Chelsea to beat champions Liverpool as last season’s top two met for the first time this year.

In other WSL matches, league 1 Birmingham City drew 0-0 with Notts County and league 2 Doncaster Rovers Belles drew 1-1 with Everton.
