England Women captain Charlotte Edwards has been appointed as a trustee for the Cricket Foundation, the charity behind the Chance to Shine and StreetChance programmes.

The 34 year old, a Chance to Shine coaching ambassador, has played an integral role in inspiring more than one million girls to play cricket.

“Working for Chance to Shine and helping to inspire the next generation of cricketers is incredibly rewarding,” said Edwards.

“I feel lucky to be involved in such a success story and I’m delighted to be joining the charity’s board of trustees.”

Edwards was also named as England women’s player of the summer by the Professional Cricketers’ Association earlier this week.
