Modern Pentathlon: Medal success at World Championships

Great Britain took three medals at  the Modern Pentathlon World Championships – a gold and two silvers.
Samantha Murray became the 2014 modern pentathlon world champion when she won the individual gold medal on Friday She also took a silver with team mates Kate French and Freyja Prentice in the women’s team on the same day. The team ended their campaign on a high note with Kate French and Joe Evans winning silver in the mixed relay in Warsaw on Sunday.

Pentathlon GB Performance Director Jan Bartu, clearly happy with the team’s performances across the championships  said

“This is a fantastic step on the path to Rio,

It’s important for the athletes and coaches to understand where we are and what we’re capable of. These championships have given us the hope that we’re heading in the direction.”

French, aged 23, who collected her second silver of the championships today, said: “It been an amazing day. We had a good day all round and we’re really pleased.”
