Jones lost ost 8-3 to Korea’s Sohee Kim in the -57kg. She tweeted later that she had had a ‘disappointing day’.

However, she still collected valuable qualification points towards the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the second grand prix event of the season.

Jones, who became Britain’s first Olympic Taekwondo champion in 2012 had said she was feeling confident following victory at the Swiss Open in Lausanne last month.

The final World Taekwondo Grand Prix of 2014 will be held in Manchester from 24-26 October.
