Sportsister Loves: Bobbin Bikes

March 6, 2013

We love a bit of stylish sports design here at Sportsister, it’s just so uplifting to find gear that not only functions but looks lovely too. Bobbin bikes therefore tick loads of boxes for us – stylish, well designed and won’t break the bank!

First up is the super-retro classic – the Birdie! Pictured here is this springs limited edition Safari design – how cool? This is the bike we want to see Cornonation Street’s Bet Lynch riding around Manchester (too young to know what we mean? That’s what google is for!)

The Birdie is Bobbin Bikes most popular model,  with it’s no-fuss 3 speed hub gears, mudguards and rear rack it is practical, easy to look after and magically smooth to ride. Plus it even starred on TV recently, so is becoming a bit of a celebrity…Check out the other lovely colourways too, it’s hard to pick our favourite! Price: From £375

For all you fans of Call The Midwife, Bramble (above) is for you. The inspiration for the Bramble comes from the Coventry-made Triumphs beloved by Land Girls and English district nurses in the interwar years up until the 1950s. It’s easily customisable and can take a rear rack or basket, while an ample ration of 6 gears is good for hillier areas.

With flatter handlebars than the Birdie, the Bramble is a nippy, dependable steed. It’s also their lightest bike, so no sweat lifting this fellow up your stairs. Bramble – we love you, especially in this lovely Plum shade. Price: £320

Much as we love Birdie and Bramble, our absolute ‘weep with joy’ favourte is Scout. Inspired by racing tourers of the 1970′s this bike is the one to tackle sportives, tours and longer rides.

Sportsister’s Danielle has been planning the perfect bike in her head for a couple of years now and hey presto…this is it! Right down to the utterly chic matt gold paintwork. It also has 16 gears, so you can get up the hills – now please don’t all rush out and buy one before Danielle has a chance to…
Price: £499
