Saskia Clarke and Hannah Mills in the 470’s had a solid day finishing 4th and 6th, they now lie in 2nd place, just two points behind the leaders.

Alison Young has seen her chance of getting a medal at London 2012 come to an end, after a disappointing day of sailing in the Laser Radial event in Weymouth today.

The 25 year old Olympic debutant had a great start to the regatta and was lying in third place at the half way stage. But today she was disqualified on her first race and finished fourth in the second race. This leaves her in fifth overall, 18 points adrift from the bronze medal place.

She said, “(It’s) Pretty disappointing to be honest, though there was an opportunity there. It’s been good (the Olympic experience), a good learning opportunity to take forward.”

The event will conclude with Monday’s medal match.

Great Britain’s windsurfer Bryony Shaw put in a solid day, coming seventh and fifth, to sit in seventh overall with two races, plus the medal race remaining. She is currently 16 points off the bronze medal spot.

Speaking afterwards about her aim for the rest of the regatta she said,

“If I can get in the top five overall I will be happy.”
